Presentation
The aim of the association Atmo Auvergne is to measure and monitor
certain air pollutants over the Auvergne region, in urban areas
in particular. Governed by the French 1901 law, the association
constitutes the monitoring network approved by the Ministry of
Ecology and Sustainable Development in Auvergne and is a member
of the Atmo federation which groups the forty approved French Air
Quality Monitoring Associations (AASQA).
Atmo Auvergne aims to:
- Use all the means at its disposal to measure, monitor and
observe air quality and to process the collected data to gain
an accurate and objective overview of the status of air quality
in Auvergne.
- Conduct any measurement campaign or specific monitoring programme,
in particular in response to a request from a regional authority
or administration, when the specific requested mission is likely
to enhance knowledge of air quality and air pollution phenomena,
- Design and implement reliable tools for forecasting air quality
and air pollution risks, in particular, based on a historical
study of collected air quality data correlated with meteorological
data.
- Transmit the collected information to the administration and
to the French National Air Quality Database (BDQA),
- Provide the general public with regular updates on air quality
levels, and with information on the results of all studies on
air pollution or energy use and to publish the results through
all appropriate media.
- In the event that air pollutant concentration thresholds,
set by decree, are exceeded or risk being exceeded, accept delegation
by the competent administrative authority to provide the general
public with information on value levels measured, give advice
and recommend courses of action for the exposed populations,
- Conduct or take part in any study or assessment relating to
air quality, and participate in any discussion, think-tank, consultancy,
event and initiative contributing to the company's purpose.
